GiGi The Planner LLC is an organization whose mission is to increase the number of black planners in America. The vision for this organization was birthed within the founder, Gisla Augustin, in the summer of 2017 to motivate and teach future black urban planners. Black planners make up a very small percentage of the professionals in the urban planning field, and it is GiGi The Planner’s aim to change that. As a result, one of the goals of the organization is to expose, engage, and empower youth of African descent to pursue a degree in urban planning.  The other goal is to mentor black college students who are pursuing degrees in urban planning to assist them with making the transition from college to the workforce as well as assist new planning professionals who are looking to advance their career.
