In last week's blog, tactical urbanism was touched on. Tactical urbanism is one form of creative placemaking. "Creative placemaking is a process where community members, artists, arts and culture organizations, community developers, and other stakeholders use arts and cultural strategies to implement community-led change."
Although urban planners are not indicated as one of the main people involved in creative placemaking, they do play a key role in the process. Without planners many of these creative placemaking projects will not be able to be implemented because planners are responsible for ensuring that community activities and the like are executed.
